BÖHLER 130 years in Italy

Origins

In 1890 Austrian brothers Arthur and Emil Böhler opened their first sales office in Italy, in downtown Milan. They represent the old Kapfenberg steel mill, which traces its roots back to 1446. They sell tool and construction steels, alloy and low-alloy.

Thus began the Italian history of a brand that is a benchmark for all small and large companies in Italian industry, in the mechanical, aerospace, automotive, electronics and energy, chemical, petrochemical and pharmaceutical sectors.

A brand that in its 130-year history in Italy has experienced major changes and has been able to evolve and innovate while maintaining strong ties to the steelmaking tradition from which it originated.

Growth

From the small representative office inaugurated by the Böhler brothers, the Company has expanded with the opening of new operational and logistics offices in Milan, where the headquarters is still located, and in other Italian cities. The transformation of the logistics structure, always open to new perspectives, is a sign of BÖHLER’s focus on the market, always guaranteeing first-class service while maintaining maximum operational efficiency.

The evolution of supply

BÖHLER’s evolution over the years is also evident from the change in its offerings: new, more alloyed steels, special alloys for ultra-high-performance applications, steels produced by powder metallurgy, and now powders for Additive Manufacturing, to make up a product portfolio of more than 250 brands.

The offering is not limited to material alone. BÖHLER wants to be an efficient partner in the business relationship with customers and support them with a full range of services provided locally. For this reason, the company has equipped its logistics structure in Italy and trained its staff to ensure real added value through services ranging from simple cutting to 6-side machining, heat treatment, and pre- and after-sales technical advice.

Continuity in value

The value of the long steelmaking tradition and the passion for steel that has shaped the centuries-long history of the BÖHLER brand are thus combined with the spirit of innovation, the ability to evolve with the market and in some cases lead it in new directions to achieve unthought-of solutions.

This is how historical brands such as the universally recognized K110 and Additive Manufacturing powders coexist on the market today.

Products of an ever-evolving technological progress; products of the passion and commitment of the people who work and have worked with dedication for this Brand, making it great, for 130 years.
